Araba
Introduction
Introduction
Apart from the
district of Aramayona, little is known of The Basque language in
the historic Basque territory of Araba. The Euskara language had
been lost and, thus, any possibility of knowing about the oral culture
of the province. But, in the 1980s, thanks to the process of recuperation
of the language and the rising prestige of bertsolaritza, the oral
art of the bertso became widespread throughout Araba, especially
in Vitoria-Gasteiz-Gasteiz, the capital of the Basque Country. Today
the oral art form of bertsolaritza is known throughout the whole
territory.
