What is it?

The Association of the Friends of Bertsolaritza was formed in 1987 with the intention of guaranteeing the future and the transmission of a great part of that intangible Basque culture known as bertsolaritza. It brings together some one thousand seven hundred and fifty bertsolaris and aficionados of bertsolaritza. It is a non-profit-making sociocultural association the aim of which is to promote the improvised sung verse art form known as bertsolaritza. It works in various aspects of bertsolaritza in which the work of both professionals and voluntary workers is invaluable. This is the philosophy of the association and this is reflected in its projects and through its objectives set out annually.
