He was born in Azpeitia (Guipuzcoa) the 12th January 1936 in a rural atmosphere. Bertsolaritza was strongly rooted around Lazkano, so he was quickly infected with orality. He began between friends, and since 1960 he has not stopped in his trajectory. As one of the most important bertsolaris of the 80's, he became the mediator between two generations and traditions, the classic and the innovator ones. National finalist in 1982 and 1989 and Guipuzcoan finalist in 1962 and 1964, he created several written bertsos, unlike his peers. He is the president of the EHBE since its creation. Lazkano has made a great work unifying the movement of bertsolaris. Nowadays he lives in Azpeitia and he is retired. He published his memories in 2003.
