He was born in Azpeitia (Guipuzcoa) the 20th January 1958. He was brought up in an atmosphere of bertsolaris. His father also improvises (Joxe Lizaso), and his parents' bar was frequently visited by bertsolaris. He began to sing between friends when he was really young. In 1982, when he was 24 years, he arrived at the national final and since then he is a bertsolari of elite. He won the national championship in 1986 and he was runner-up in 1989 and 1997; in 1993 he got the third place. He also took part in the final of Guipuzcoa in 1991. The reasoning of Lizaso and his powerful voice have been successful among the Basque public. He has demonstrated that he is able to adapt perfectly to the new generations, being one of bertsolaris who has most performances during the year. He is a seller; he has worked in a publicity company and so in a car franchisee. Nowadays he works in a property company.
